The cross-country races in 2026 will have intense competition across a large range of terrain, all designed to challenge all riders. Riders will need to do steep climbs, where some will be in woodland sections, and rapid descents while still having to keep a consistent pace throughout the course. The Cross-Country Mountain Bike World Series is scheduled for 14th - 16th of August 2026.
The cross-country 2026 track will have a blend of natural terrain and purpose-built features.Steep sections, fast flowing descents, and technical rocky stretches mean riders will need to plan ahead for careful line choice so they have confident control. The varied gradients and tight turns mean rhythm changes play a major role in race strategy. From personal experience, the open hillside sections provide excellent viewing for spectators.
It can be expected to have excellent viewing opportunities around key parts of the course. The venue will include family zones, refreshments and clearly marked spectator routes.
Leading riders expected to compete include Tom Pidcock, Mathieu van der Poel, Nino Schurter, Loana Lecomte and Pauline Ferrand Prevot. Their talent and experience ensure high level racing throughout the season.
